My Editing Approach

When it comes to my style of pet photography, my editing approach is gentle and intentional, designed to highlight your pet’s natural charm without ever overshadowing their true personality. I truly believe the magic is already present in every moment. We just need to bring it gently into the light. Every expression, gesture, and little quirk is a part of what makes your pet unique, and my goal is to honor that in every image.

With a careful, light touch and attention to detail, I enhance the warmth, softness, and distinct character that make your pet who they are. Rather than chasing perfection or over-editing, I focus on preserving the honest, heartfelt moments that reveal their personality. Every whisker, every sparkle in their eyes, every playful tilt of the head is captured and celebrated, not masked. My editing is about enhancing what’s already there, not creating something artificial.

I also want to give you a peek behind the curtain about how I handle photos in public spaces. Most areas in Minnesota have on-leash laws, and I always follow them to keep everyone safe and stress-free. But this doesn’t mean your pet has to look “tethered” in the final images. In many cases, I’m able to remove leashes during the editing process, so your photos still feel natural and relaxed. While it may not be possible to remove them in every single image, I use thoughtful angles, creative framing, and subtle editing techniques to minimize their visibility whenever I can. The goal is always the same: to let your pet shine exactly as they are.

Part of what makes this approach work is understanding your pet as an individual. Some animals are shy, some are playful, and some have a calm, regal presence. Capturing that requires patience, observation, and sensitivity, both during the shoot and in post-processing. I work carefully to ensure every image reflects not just how your pet looks, but who they are. The small details like the way a dog tilts their head, a cat’s mischievous glint in their eyes, or a horse’s proud stance are what make the images truly special.
